This header is a pastel painting I did in 2009 is of a place in the Netherlands, my country of origin, after a photo shot by Dick Witte.

Some of the painters who have influenced me:
Mondriaan, Hopper
O"Keefe, Weyeth
Singer Sargent
van Gogh, Rembrandt
Picasso, Escher

Since this is my second blog page, it generally takes me longer (sometimes very long) to reply to your comments, but I do read and love them!

A MEMORY OF POLAND

© A Memory of Poland, 24 x 30, Oil, St. Germain

Notes
-In Poland we drove by endless oceans
of yellow sunflowers
it was like being in a dream
- fairly easy to paint
after accounting for all the petals!
-wonder how an abstract
with sunflowers would look like...

Love the colours in this painting, the contrast between the blues and the orange/yellow.

Twain,
Thank you, Friend! Yeah, it's bright isn't it? The sunflower fields in Poland had a different feel to it though...

BareEyedSun,
Thank you! Am curious what you you expected instead?

Gorgeous. Reminds me of the Sunflower fields of my childhood I used to play in.

Leia,
Thank you -you might want to read my post on my main blog Mysteries about Memory of Poland to read more about the sunflowers. Yes, have a great weekend!

Anil,
Happy that it brings up happy childhood memories for you! Visited your blog, very interesting (I think I visited once before, because the men reading the books on the train/bus look familiar.
Why I painted the sunflowers, you may read on my main blog (see reply to Leia, above yours).

Having never been to Poland I would never have imagined such a beautiful living reality such as fields of sunflowers. Thanks for sharing this...

Betsy,
You are quite welcome! Of course now I wish I had taken pics of it, but I believe that at time I was not into taking pics:)

Jeannette...I am answering your request that you put on my blog since I am on the road and can receive, but not send, e-mails easily. It is perfectly fine for you to use my photo (or painting) of the Giant Argentinian as you wish. If I were at home (we are in Chama, NM for a month) and at my own computer I could send you the original photo I was working from, but this is my husband's computer.

thanks for stopping by!
Susan
