This header is a pastel painting I did in 2009 is of a place in the Netherlands, my country of origin, after a photo shot by Dick Witte.

Some of the painters who have influenced me:
Mondriaan, Hopper
O"Keefe, Weyeth
Singer Sargent
van Gogh, Rembrandt
Picasso, Escher

Since this is my second blog page, it generally takes me longer (sometimes very long) to reply to your comments, but I do read and love them!

FIRE CHASERS

This watercolor is still in process. If you enlarge the image you may see that I'm contemplating to add a third figure, which would be the poet.
FIRE CHASINGS
seeking to revive
dying embers
dancing ferociously
sparking flames
blow by blow
on melodies of flute and narration
Prophetic voices
explosion of colors and paint
soaring to eagles heights
travel of ebb and flow
like ocean waves
with lightning speed
of handmade
footprints of percussion

NOTES
Began to paint this at the Art Event on the first Thursday
in March 2010 (see main blog).
Technically it should be called  a Mixed Media painting,
since pastel was used for the patches of the blanket
and then painted over with a wet brush
We'll see what happens...

I love the drama and romance to this scene.

Be interesting to see what the third figure does to the balance!

Hi Jeannette, tks for popping over. this is another wonderful blog, i love all your colors and paintings. I shot the koi using my normal camera not with a macro lens but am able to get close to it. As for the comment picture/profile, the flower is one of the few lotuses I have at home--and a fav one too. The lotus is a huge one and blooms under heat and water, so I guess they don't survive in cold weather. Maybe one day you can paint one :) happy week ahead.

Dogimo,
Thank you, dogimo! I started painting this on an art event, see my main blog March 10 (Post "Art is so much fun.")
I saw a 2nd comment from you, but in moderating it, I "lost" it -can't find it...

Don't worry, you didn't lose it! You posted it - it's just on an older post:

Joe,
Thank you -the computer is still tripping me up at times LOL

Leia and Cezar,
passion for God's consuming fire is an a way a romance...never thought about it that way! Thanks for bringing it up.

I was wondering who the contributor to your blog is -you are too young to be her mother, right?

Your work is beautiful. This is my first visit but I will be back. Do you often imitate other styles. I was thinking Diego Rivera before I read it in your comments, and the Impressionist image immediately made me think of Van Gogh.

Elisabeth (ewix),
Glad you like it? I've visited your new York blog several times. Guess you didn't know I had a second blog page?

Ted,
Thank you for visiting! These are actually my "experiments" in my beginning period.
My work is often labeled as a mix of van Gogh and Picasso.

My latest post, the header, fading into the New Year, and Crissy's Coffee are more my style at the moment.
When you like to see more of my bigger size paintings, click on www(dot)stgermainart(dot)com
in the right bar of the main blog, or google it - enjoy!

Hallo Jeannette
Ik weet niet wat je bedoelt met
"blog of note"

Anja,
So you are "the birthday girl"!
Have a very happy birthday! (I'm sorry to have to miss your party with the delicious Dutch pastries (gebakjes)!
-if you want to ask me how to say something in English, I can write you back till tomorrow (Saturday midnight here -you are 9 hours ahead of us).

Anja,
this is about "blog of note." When you are at the page called "Dashboard", in the middle of the page, you read (from left to right:
Blog I'm Following - Blogger Buss - Blog of Note.

The Blog of Note are chosen monthly by the people in charge of Blogger which blog they like.
When you are a blog of Note, suddenly the people who like to be on your "follower's list" are in the hundreds!
And from what I've heard, it becomes very stressful for the owner of the blog, because they get all kinds of strange requests from people (also porn). After a while it dies down and the regular readers of the blog come back!

I love the poetry that goes with this painting. Is that yours? This painting is so engaging. That yellow just draws me right in. Thanks for brightening my day with this image.

What a wonderful blend of creativity this painting and poem. The colors leap out and touch me. Beautiful work...

Betsy 2 times(smile),
Did you think your comment was not coming through?
Thank you Betsy, I did this one recently at an art event. If you like to read the whole story, it's on my main blog "Mysteries."

The posts are called "Art is so much fun" and "Watercolor of the...Rumba?"

I think I'm going to put a gadget on the right bar that you can click on, to go to the main blog...
Have a great weekend!

Bare Eyed Sun,
Sorry, I thought I had already replied...
Thank you for your kind comments! Yes, I like poetry, but do not have enough time for it, to really develop it.
