This header is a pastel painting I did in 2009 is of a place in the Netherlands, my country of origin, after a photo shot by Dick Witte.

Some of the painters who have influenced me:
Mondriaan, Hopper
O"Keefe, Weyeth
Singer Sargent
van Gogh, Rembrandt
Picasso, Escher

Since this is my second blog page, it generally takes me longer (sometimes very long) to reply to your comments, but I do read and love them!

THE POINSETTIA TREE

18 x 36, Oil, St. Germain

NOTES
- Still need to put in place finishing touches, here and there.
I call this my poinsettia tree,
a variant of the tree that is decorated in this season.
Three colors  of this plant is all I could handle:)
- The Christmas balls were an afterthought.
Decided to add them after one of my friends imagined the balls
in the Christmas tree to be gifts.
All you had to do, was grab 'em!  Thought that was a wonderful idea for life.
Go ahead, get any gifts being up there - they're there for the taking!

Lovely image. I always buy pink poinsettias for Xmas and there they are. I so admire artistic talent, with a little bit of envy, as I have none.

Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. Please visit again.

I love the Christmas balls and the idea - all we have to do is grab our gifts. Isn't life one big gift, all wrapped up?

Evelyn,
Thank you friend! Hope you will produce many creative inventive and unusual pics this new year:)

Cildemer,
Thank you, Friend! Oh, I go for your wish for me (all my dreams coming true):)

Oakland,
Thank you! But me thinks that anyone who has a photo blog has an artistic eye, which is the foundation to do any type of art:):)

Judy,
You are so right - often we take life itself for granted, isn't it?

Vicki,
Yes (smiling) in this painting I made some color combinations where I otherwise would have shrunk back from (pink and red in particular) - art stretches me on continuously!

So beautiful and nostalgic!

Thank you for such kind words for my blog anniversary! It's great to meet you and be enriched by your gorgeous art.

Leovi,
From another artist, I take this as a compliment! You have seen well, most of my paintings have color wise a heavier, darker touch:)

Ruth,
Hope you remember I met you before your anniversary:):)Am happy you think so much of my art!

Very nice painting! I like the graduated colors starting dark and rising to a lighter palette.

Heel mooi en kleurrijk.

Dutchbaby,
You caught my intention with the color gradation (sigh, finally someone does:):) )

Dick,
Thank you! I don't know how it is now in Holland, but in the USA the Poinsettia is a very popular plant to buy for the Christmas days.

This is so beautiful. The warm colors and the composition on this long, thin canvas are wonderful.
