Am looking forward to seeing what you achieve with scratchout tools - they look sharp and very purposeful!
I was wondering - do you ever paint from memories of Indonesia?
I remember using tools like these when I learned scratch board. Hmm.. Have to wonder what you'll be doing? Great use for the little mustard jar.
I love the mustard jar with its tools. Just think a plastic mustard container could in no way serve a repurpose as you jar.
In regards to the process of your blogs sidebar, I am delighted in seeing all the new images of your art tools. I would like to recommend an alternative to a black background from a designers point of view and select a more medium dark grey if you are set on a dark shade.

Scratch out tools - so difficult for me to use with watercolors! Sometimes loads of water works, but alas, watercolor is not a forgiving media!
Love the picture; actually it is a perfect object to paint or draw.;)

Indeed, they are very sharp! My memories of Indonesia are very vague, since I was 5 years old when we left there. It was at a time of riots going on, incredible inflation, a political coup, so all kinds of chaotic and unsafe things going on.

You are right, that would be hard with watercolor - the scratch out tools are more used with thicker layers like linoleum, wood, etc. but one can do very fine work with it.

You have an artist eye! I had not even thought in that direction -to paint or draw it - it's kind of a still life isn't it?
When I lived in Holland I was in Zaandam - specifically, Koog aan de Zaan!

In my teens I lived in Zeeland. And in my adult life I lived in the Hague, and near Arnhem (Lunteren and Ede)
